I told my friend Nichole that I did not like or respect poetry. Then I saw this story in Washington DC, and immediately I thought of Gwendolyn Brooks. I take it back Nichole:

We Real Cool by Gwendolyn Brooks

We real cool. We
Left school. We

Lurk late. We
Strike straight. We

Sing sin. We
Thin gin. We

Jazz June. We
Die soon.

I'm in the same boat. Not a big poetry or spoken word fan. I just can't get into it for some reason.
